Anyone else read TORn today and saw this http://www.tolkienshop.com/ ? Lots of cool stuff there, giving some serious thought to buying one of the pipes

Re: Tolkienshop
I love the pure non-pcness of it all! LoTR must be one of the few (if not only) modern cinema events from which smoking paraphernalia could be part of the official merchandising. Enjoy your pipe Ringdrotten  (your bank balance must be better than mine- they ain't cheap-although I didn't check if those prices were US $?)
Re: Tolkienshop

Hehe, the price is the only reason why I haven't already bought one. Still, I really can't see myself NOT sitting on a nice summer's eve without one of those after seeing that, even if I'm not really a smoker. They look beautiful  I will have to cut the costs on other things, and then see if I can set aside some money for a pipe I wonder how long I can live on rice and ketchup? :?

Looks a good shop. Anyone got €2,500.00? If so, you could buy a letter written by Tolkein himself! Why kind of pipe, has your attention Ringdrotten? Gandalf, Bilbo- even Aragorn all had pipes!

Looking at the pictures on Vauen's web page (the company that makes them), I think I would have to go for either Bilbo's or Gandalf's

I'd never heard of that.... I can't abide tobacco smoke, but those are some really nice pipes, I have to admit. I like the weapons section more though.

'm not particularly fond of tobacco either (can't stand cigarettes), but I guess I could make an exception or two if I had one of those pipes, or at least save them for when I'm old and grumpy and got nothing else to do besides smoking pipes And yeah, the weapons look great They are a bit too expensive for me though, but I'd love to have one of those hanging on the wall.

I already have some of this gear from years ago, I have 8 of the danbury mint porcelien plates, still in mint condition with certificates of authenticity and still in the polystirene, at 69 Euros a piece , I also have the Gollum pewter goblet at 120 Euros. They were allmuch cheaper when I bought them. I would have to spend 680 Euros to buy that stuff here.

Yeah, well Tobacco ain't the only thing you can smoke in a Pipe. "The Halflings Leaf has slowed your mind."

I thought I was being subtle (at least as subtle as Peter Jackson )! I mean, there were people complaining that they had no use for Tobacco Pipes, so it just seemed appropriate to remind everyone there are

And while we're being as "subtle" as PJ: "Ooooh, look Merry, Mushrooms" (gleefully)And just because it's funny

It's a very good online store, the tolkienshop. I bought something there a while back, 2 posters, and old received one. I found van Rossenberg on facebook and he was very quick in sorting it out. Anyway, I am sure you pipe will be... smoking!

Has anyone bought books for them? I'm curious if they're as good as Amazon.com in that respect.

I've not bought anything yet, not even the pipe. Been pretty low on funds lately, so the pipe'll have to wait I'm afraid. Still on my "to-buy" list though!

Seems like this Tolkienshop guy knows how to make his money! Most of the pipes sold on his site can be bought [url=http://macqueenpipes.com/classicchurchwardens.aspx:3okqz1ut]here[/url:3okqz1ut], directly from the pipe maker, at a much lower price. For instance, the two Gandalf pipes that cost €125 at Tolkienshop are $60 (the brown one) and $50 (the white one) if you buy them directly from the pipe maker. The stands are not included though, but they can be bought for an extra $20. And they've got worldwide free shipping. Looks like I'll be buying one of these beauties at last

Re: Tolkienshop

After spending a lot of time the last couple of days reading forums dedicated to pipe smoking discussions, I've decided not to buy one of those MacQueen pipes after all. It seems they have a bad reputation, as the quality of the pipes is very varying. I have, however, developed a great interest in pipe smoking after reading so much about it! So, my question is, is anyone else around here into pipe smoking?(I hope it is ok to discuss pipe smoking on this forum. If it isn't, I'll delete this post). If any of you Scotsmen are, can you reccomend me a good Scottish pipe tobacco? There's quite a few of them (Irish ones too) in Norway, so advice on good ones would be much appreciated

Don't be so stereotypical Ringdrotten! Are middle-aged Scotsmen more likely to be into pipe smoking than 17 year old Welsh girls? No!

I was only asking for advice on Scottish tobacco, but I will gladly accept your advice on Welsh pipe tobacco too, Ally

All pipes count Water pipes are great! I don't have a bong, but a hookah (not a hooker, mind you!). It's a quite big one too, the amount of smoke you can get in your mouth from that thing surprises me each time I blow it outThey really are fantastic smoking devices, and I just love the coolness of the smoke and the delicious flavour of the tobacco used in hookahs (shisha) (There are, of course, alternatives to shisha for those who prefer that  )
