Instead of having a nice meal I decided I would eat sh*t, but decided beforehand that I wouldn't mind and that way I wouldn't be disappointed. Sadly it still tasted like sh*t and I [i:1po9ze3l]was[/i:1po9ze3l] disappointed (as well as violently ill obviously). Just like these films will still be sh*t whether you decide you like sh*t beforehand or not!! (And they may also make some of us violently ill).

My argument would be TH is not sh*t its a recognized classic. But we ain't getting a film of a genuine childrens classic- we're getting Eru knows what and I doubt it will be aimed at children. And if there is a revolution people who eat caviar will be first against the wall.

I am a little more optimistic, I am hoping that there will be a baby in with the bathwater and not just a turd floating on top of the bathwater.

I hope the actors for the dwarf roles can pull off the dwarven accent, John Rhys-Davies' dwarf accent was meticulous (in my opinion)

Sometimes I think that petty takes the mantra that "the Internet is Serious Business" a little too far.

Now, now Eldo- don't mistake my passion for LotR as seriousness! I can assure you I don't spend my nights kept awake worrying about them. I express (occasional) strong views on here when I'm irked and my passion provoked- but after all that's what coming here is (partly) for. And there is nearly always a tongue in cheek (or close to cheek!)

I am sure that there will be things in the movies that I will be crabbity about but I am still optimistic that there will be lots to love <img src='/images/smileys/bigsmile.gif' border='0' alt='Big Smile Smilie' /> about what his team put together. Sometimes it feels that PJ gets all the credit and discredit in peoples minds but he has a large team that add to the whole 8-) . Rather than your analogy of eating sh#t; I prefer another one; the Hobbit is my kid sister, PJ is the wayward reprobate that got her pregnant on a one night stand . The new movie is the illegitimate offspring; but being illegitimate is not going to stop me loving it. ps be carefull that you don't get too crabity and back yourself into a corner with nowhere to go. In my mind I am wondering if it is this recent display of absolute crabbityness that is causing the big posters to boycot your edit of the movies. Not really a cast announcement, but I heard that Rick Astley would be doing the soundtrack.

I'm sure such things are only said to cause me pain!! Maybe they've adopted a cunning strategy of putting out ridiculous rumours so that we'll except the rubbish they actually do produce with a sense of relief instead of horror.

For what it's worth, the latest round of news reports doesn't actually say that she will be Itaril, just that she's been cast as someone, and that someone has been rumoured to be Itaril recently. Scant hope, I know, but better than nothing. Although she'll almost certainly end up being an original character anyway since Galadriel was already cast.

I think PJ just has a crush on her! As to who she will play, it seems unlikely she will just be a female elf or hobbit standing in the background, sadly. But I'm sure the PJ fans will insist PJ knows best- after all every time I read TH I find myself thinking, 'yeah its good but what it really needs is a crap romance story between two elves clumsily forced upon it with all the subtlety of a rapist.'
